Program Services Director for SC-SIC
Job Description:
The South Carolina School Improvement Council (SC-SIC) is seeking a Program Services Director to collaborate with the executive director and other staff to provide training, technical assistance, information, and other support for school improvement council members and related education personnel (currently estimated at 17,000). Located within the College of Education at the University of South Carolina, the mission of SC-SIC is to promote and support civic engagement for quality public education through school improvement councils.
The Program Services Director will work with the executive director and other staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of services provided on the state, regional, district and local levels for SIC members. Activities include but are not limited to:
- On-site training of SIC members.
- Email and phone support for SIC members.
- Development and dissemination of information/training resources via video, web-based, and hard-copy publications.
- Assist the executive director with logistics for trainings and annual meeting.
- Assist the executive director in maintaining collaborative relationships with the College of Education, education associations, related organizations, elected officials, and key individuals pertaining to the mission of the organization.
- Assist the director with board functions including committee staffing.
The Program Services Director will also coordinate the Riley Awards process including related training and technical assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in education, social work, public health education, conflict management, advocacy, or other related field is required. Must be available for frequent in-state travel, possess valid SC driver’s license, and be able to lift 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a trainer, teacher, facilitator or public speaker desired. Experience working with school volunteers, coalitions, and/or grassroots advocacy groups preferred. Familiarity with school improvement councils and school governance is a plus. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse groups of people and move them to action.
Individual will develop his or her own work plan to meet specified deadlines and objectives while maintaining flexibility to deal with unanticipated needs. Ability to work under limited supervision with creativity and initiative is valued. All staff in this small office assist with copying, filing, phone messages, packet-stuffing, and other duties as needed.

This is a non-tenure track clinical faculty position subject to yearly appointment based on continued funding from the General Assembly and the needs of the College of Education.
