SC-SIC Board of Trustees Passes Public School Choice Resolution
"... the SC-SIC Board of Trustees supports all legislative efforts to enact meaningful, state-wide public school choice programs within the public education system of South Carolina, as well as those efforts fiscal, programmatic or regulatory in nature intended to strengthen our state’s public schools."

SC-SIC Board of Trustees Passes Education Reform Resolution
On Sept. 12, 2008, the SC-SIC Board unanimously passed a Resolution to support the amendment of Section 3, Article XI of the Constitution of South Carolina. The amendment will insert the language, “a high quality education, allowing each student to reach his highest potential” into our state constitution. This new language will replace South Carolina’s current state standard of “a minimally adequate education.”

"The General Assembly shall provide for the maintenance and support of a system of free public schools open to all children in the State and shall establish, organize, and support such other public institutions of learning, as may be desirable that will provide a high quality education, allowing all students to reach their highest potential."

The SC-SIC Board of Trustees is looking for people like you to serve on our statewide board.
The SC-SIC Board works to maintain diversity in its membership in terms of gender, race, ethnicity and geography. New members are added annually; nominations are accepted throughtout the year. Appointments are made by the board chairperson during the year to fill unexpired terms as needed.
If you know of someone who has demonstrated a commitment to public education in their particular sphere of influence, or have done so yourself, consider nominating that person or yourself for membership to the board.
