SC-SIC Recognizes Fred S. Washington, Jr. as
2011 SIC Advocate of the Year
Each year, the SC-SIC Board chooses to recognize someone who has gone above and beyond the call to advocate for School Improvement Councils in their community of influence. We are pleased to present Fred S. Washington, Jr. with this year’s SIC Advocate of the Year Award.
“Throughout his professional and personal life, Fred Washington has been an unflagging supporter of the importance of parent and community involvement in education,” said SC-SIC Associate Director Tom F. Hudson in presenting the award. “He understands and advocates for the vital roles of our state’s School Improvement Councils in the lives of their schools and the students they serve.”

Chairman's Award for Excellence
“It is Claudia Wolverton who is in charge of our technology and who always gives her best to make the rest of us look good,” said SC-SIC Board of Trustees Chair Sylleste Davis in presenting the award. “Largely behind the scenes, she plays a key role in the work of the SC School Improvement Council. Her creativity, communication, and caring is vital to our daily form and function as we provide information and resources to local School Improvement Councils across the state.” On March 24, 2012, SC-SIC Board of Trustees Chair Davis awarded Claudia with the Chairman's Award for Excellence honoring her talent, dedication and achievement.

for lifetime contributions to education
“Ellen Still has been a mover and shaker for children and families throughout her long and important career in education,” said SC-SIC Board of Trustees Chair Sylleste Davis in presenting the award. “She continues to be a vibrant, active advocate for the future of our state and is a shining example to us all.” On March 24, 2012, SC-SIC Board of Trustees Chair Davis awarded Diane with the SC-SIC Board of Trustees’ Mover and Shaker Award honoring for her lifetime contributions to education.
