Effective Advocacy
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, to advocate means to plead the cause of another. As a school improvement council member you have the right and the obligation to get involved as an advocate for your local school and for public education.
Effective advocacy often requires knowledge of and involvement with activities in the South Carolina General Assembly, with your local school board and/or other local governing body, and even Congress. SC-SIC provides council members with guidance on how to advocate effectively with elected officials and stay current with issues in public education.
