7 - TRAINING SESSION:
Getting and Keeping the First Job
Participants will learn the importance of employment for all people and its particular impact on people with disabilities. The realities of today's labor market and the impact on youth with disabilities seeking employment is discussed, as well as the critical role of families in promoting disability self-awareness, engaging youth in career planning and maintaining high expectations of youth. Training on how to navigate basic job search activities such as creating a resume, building needed work skills and performing well on job interviews, and strategies to help keep the job are included. Additional resources related to employment topics will be addressed.

8 - TRAINING SESSION:
The Journey to Adulthood: What Parents Need to Know (Sexuality)
This session includes basic information parents can use to help their son or daughter with a disability understand the physical, emotional and social changes of puberty and adolescence. Participants will learn how some disabilities impact puberty, adolescent development and social skills. Strategies will be discussed that parents and caregivers can use at home to explain puberty or teach a new personal care or social skill to their child; "where to go" information will also be given.
